What is Homeopathy?

Homeopathy is an effective and scientific system of medicine that uses naturally occuring substances in a specialized remedy format. Homeopathy was established over 200 years ago by Samuel Hahnemann, eminent doctor and physician who showed that homeopathic remedies stimulate the body's natural ability to fight infection and overcome illness.

How does it work?

Homeopathy recognises that all symptoms of ill health are expressions of disharmony within the whole person. Disharmony can come about for a variety of reasons e.g. Ongoing stress, allergies, poor nutrition, hereditary factors.
Homeopathy promotes health by using a small dose of a carefully selected natural substance in remedy format to stimulate a natural healing response. Homeopathic remedies strengthen the immune system and help reduce one's susceptibility to disease. The remedy chosen is individually prescribed and takes into account not only your presenting complaint, but you as a whole person.

What are Homeopathic remedies made from?

All homeopathic remedies are natural, acquired from the mineral plant and animal kingdoms. The remedy Arnica e.g. a well know plant is prepared under a special process and method to bring out its medicinal healing properties, rendering it totally safe with no side effects.

Is Homeopathy Effective?

Since the early nineteenth century homeopathy has proven effective for millions of people worldwide. In more recent years medical journals have published positive reports of the results of scientific research into the effectiveness of homeopathy. It is practised around the world by trained homeopaths and by some doctors who have done post graduate training in Homeopathy. It is advocated by the World Health Organisation and there are numerous homeopathic hospitals world-wide, including London, Scotland, Moscow, India etc.

Who is Homeopathy suitable for?

Homeopathy is suitable and beneficial for all age groups. - Babies, children, teenagers, adults, pregnant women and the eldery. It offers both an alternative and a complement to conventional and other forms of healthcare.

What does a visit to the Homeopath involve?

The first consultation will usually last about one to one and a half hours. The Homeopath will need to hear all about your complaint and symptoms, whether they are affecting you mentally, emotionally or physically. The Homeopath is interested in you as a person and recognises that people can react in different ways to illness and stress. A full medical case history will be taken and a record of any details of any previous problems in your family. A homeopathic remedy may be prescribed for you immediately or soon after consultation. A treatment plan will be discussed and client confideniality assured.
